AI is coming for entry-level consultants.⚠️
It’s going to change fundamentally the consulting skill model & team compositions.
Here’s the thing:
AI is already changing business consulting.
By automating tasks like:
- Research
- Data analysis
- Reporting
It’s making life easier for consultants while also eliminating the need for the traditional Junior /Entry level consulting and analyst jobs.
But here’s the crucial point:
Human consultants are still essential.
Why?
Because AI can’t do the higher level cognitive work.
Strategic decision-making, Complex problem-solving, Relationship management, Nuanced Organizational navigations, Leadership, Intuitive sense of the impact of decisions on humans.
Those require a human touch.
And that’s where the irreplaceable skills come in:
- Empathy
- Creativity
- Critical thinking
These are the skills that drive deeper client understanding.
And they’re the reason clients choose humans over machines.
So what does this mean for the future of consulting?
Here are two recommendations for consulting teams:
1. Invest in AI training
2. Double down on human-centric skills
